Unlike other amaranth varieties, Amaranthus Tricolor Perfecta is known for its foliage, not its flowers. Amaranthus Perfecta, also called Summer poinsettia, features gorgeous scarlet and yellow leaves, reverses are chocolate-brown, yellow, and green. This variety has a narrow growth habit, about 2 to 4 feet in height and it looks best in mass plantings.

Sow seeds early in the season and cover lightly with soil. Keeping them at 65-75°F., the seeds germinate is in 10-21 days. Make sure to harden off the Amaranthus seedlings before transplanting them outdoors.
